Camino Frances (August 19-sept 30,2013) (8/2017)
My name is Vilma. My husband and I will be walking the Camino de Santiago in mid August 2013. My husband is 74 and I am 66 yrs old. We are oldies but goodies. We believe that upon are arrival in St. Jean Pied deport we would like to be in a B&B. We tried to get a reservation at esprit du chemin, but they are full on the date we arrive. They told me that they save spaces for walking pilgrims who do not have a reservation. We will not get a pilgrim's passport until we get to St. Jean Pied deport. The following day of our arrival we would begin our journey. Anyone know any good B&B 's in St. Jean Pied deport? Staying at a B&B is our second choice. We are also open to suggestions.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Good morning, Vilma,
You may have already seen this, but it looks like TripAdvisor has a nice list of B&B's and inns in St. Jean: http://www.tripadvisor.com/HACSearch?geo=676270

Also, we use http://www.booking.com frequently as well to book accommodations. The only thing is that in mid-August some of the places look to be sold-out already, or just plain expensive!

Hope you find a good place from which to begin your Camino. Buen Camino!

I stayed in an albergue that was Bed&Breakfast-style. It is called Gîte Ultreïa. See their website here. http://www.ultreia64.fr/en/ They are open until 22.00h. Serve lovely breakfast in the morning. The beds and rooms are good, although you sleep with ±4 people in a room.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi,
If its a Bed & Breakfast you would prefer maybe you could try this place http://www.errecaldia.com/

Hope this helps,
Aidan :)

Last year I stayed in Hotel Itzalpea, in the heart of St. Jean Pied de Port. It was very nice.

There is also the Logis Hotel Ramuntcho just up the street from the Pilgrims Office, a friend stayed there, also very nice.
Buen Camino!

I stayed in Hotel Central in SJPdP on the 3&4 May 2013. Great location, well run and right on the river. Basic with a wonderful little restaurant on site.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
