Planning a winter Camino this year starting 27th December... SJPDP to Santiago.... any tips on what's open and what's closed that time of year ?(besides the route Napoleon)

Too many and too often!
The Gronze website gives details for albergues and usually says if a place is open all year. It may not be accurate though. Hospitaleros may well know what the options are further west and it is worth asking their advice. There is also a dedicated website available from November which lists places known to be open during winter: http://www.aprinca.com/alberguesinvierno/
