Wonderful Camino Moment

Time of past OR future Camino
Frances, Jul-Aug 05, Frances, Jul-Aug 06, Portugues, Oct 2010
I've just returned from a week in Germany with my other half. We went to the town of Saarbrucken on the French border, where there is an ancient bridge crossing the river.
Imagine my joy and surprise to see a scallop shell embedded in the paving! We looked about a bit further and sure enough saw the familiar blue and yellow signs leading away from the town centre across the bridge to the old town. Following it further it led us to the St Jakob's Kirche (forgive my spelling); a plaque on the wall said that pilgrims used to visit a chapel further on up the hill where some relics of Santiago were reputed to be found.
I was ecstatic to be back on the Camino again (albeit for a mile or so) and it was extra special for my bf, who is planning to start his first Camino next year. It looks like he's started it a bit earlier than expected.
Does anyone know more about the Camino through Saarbrucken? Bf had lived there for a year and knew nothing about it.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
It's happened again!

Again in Germany, this time we were in Neuss, on the other side of the river from Dusseldorf. The yellow shell on blue background leading pilgrims right past the front door of our hotel!

(Admittedly in December there weren't any pilgrims apart from us but still...)

Does anyone know of any english language websites which details the various Caminos running through Germany?

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

And to me too.

Was in Cologne last weekend, and I came across this whilst wandering along the Rhine

During the Middle Ages, along with Jerusalem, Rome, Santiago and St-Gilles-du-Gard, Cologne and Aachen were major pilgrim destinations. Cologne houses the relics of the Three Kings (Magi) having acquired them from Milan, Milan having got them from Turkey. According to the guide to the cathedral, at Epiphany (6 Jan), or in Spain, el dia de los Reyes, they take the front off the reliquary, and there are three skulls with crowns on!
