I use two trekking poles these days. But in the past I have bought an ordinary wooden broom handle from a ferreteria or China bazaar. Put a rubber walking stick ferrule at one end and tied my spare bootlaces as a wrist loop through the hanging hole at the other. Works well and very cheap. And you are unlikely to have it taken by mistake from the rack by the albergue door
PS: Rubbing some Vaseline or olive oil into the wood will improve the look of the thing!
