Wow! Hotel Norte y Londres prices

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Oooh ouch! This was always my go-to hotel for two nights when in Burgos on the camino. What a shame as it's a great hotel.

Like @SabsP I wonder whether €92 is the price for a room at the Norte y Londres in Burgos for every day in May or for a day on a holiday weekend or on a Saturday or on a day with a special event in Burgos.

Prices for May 2024 are not yet on Booking.com or on their own website but for February 2024 I see that their prices range from €52 for Monday to Thursday to €81 on a Saturday for a room for 2.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
They may have woken up to the fact that their pricing has been cheap for many years; but I suspect it’s a seasonal rate. I have only stayed there ‘out of season’ and the breakfast is missable but on balance always good value.

The location at the end of c. San Lorenzo is excellent; providing I remember to start the evening at the far end.

Given all the good reviews here on the forum I have checked the prices at Hotel Norte y Londres in previous years, and didn't find any bargain prices. But I was only booking ahead by a few days.

I agree - prices depend hugely on the demand for the day. There are often bargains on days when there is little demand.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I paid €72 for 2 nights there in a single room in September 2020. Absolute bargain!

The date is a Saturday, 5/11 - but for pilgrims it was an ouch
I found apartments at El Cid for much less.

Wow indeed. I stayed there for two nights may 7 & 8 2023. $118.26 euros all in.

Ascension day is on thursday 9.5.24.

It is an official holiday in some countries (Germany, France...), and many people like to use that for a "long weekend" and a short vacation. So of course hotel prices are higher than usually that weekend.

Hotels are a luxury, anyway. Haven't ever checked into one without "ouch" being the first thought when paying. So that sounds totally normal to me 😂.

Buen Camino!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I was traveling with two other people (a couple), and we stayed in Burgos 3 nights in order to play tourist a little since we were there. We got a great apartment in the old city for I think 99 Euros/night. We did breakfast and lunch in the apartment, did laundry for no extra cost, etc. It was lovely. And if I remember correctly, there was another bed or another bedroom even. Burgos has lots of lodging options.

Ascencion day is unheard of in (most parts) of Spain. Have had to explain several years how come a group of 20 working-age people could take time off to visit a couple of cities…
In Belgium thursday is an official holiday in Belgium (friday is not, but for a lot of people it is too) so with about 2 days off work, we could travel from wednesday till sunday…

Buen Camino, Miguel

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Prices seem to have increased dramatically this year.
I got a quote yesterday for my group for May:

Single room: 92€ Tax included per room
Ouch!
I did part of the Norte until the weather was too awful ( I went down to do the Portuguese to finish.) I made it to Bilbao and found a place for about $35 for a hostel.
It was completely expensive everywhere...I think it was also because many of the auberges were still shut down, especially municipals and donativos. I heard that it got better after Bilbao.

Update: The Hotel Norte y Londres in Burgos, popular with numerous forum members, have now published their prices for April and May 2024 on Booking.com.

As predicted, prices are higher on weekends, especially Saturdays. Example: €68 on a Wednesday and €106 on a Saturday which is 55% more.

Another period of time with higher prices and higher demand is the week before Easter which, in 2024, is the last week of March. Burgos is a very popular destination for the long Easter weekend, and as you can see below there is already no availability on Good Friday, at least not on Booking.com. You can always phone or email the hotel directly to book a room.

As this thread has come alive again and since it is about the cost of a room for a single person at the Norte y Londres hotel in May 2024:

Their prices for May are now published on Booking.com and as mentioned earlier, their room prices are highest on Saturdays and lowest during the middle of the week.

The differences are considerable: €106 on Saturday May 11 (mentioned in the first post) and €68 on Wednesday May 22 for example.

The days before Easter are high demand days in Burgos in general and at this hotel because the processions attract many visitors: €131 on the Saturday before Easter Sunday and only €66 on the night of Easter Sunday itself.

These are Booking.com rates. Direct booking with the hotel may save you a few euros but the hotel does not publish their prices on their own website. You need to call to find out. Just be aware of these fluctuations and don't write off the Hotel Norte y Londres in Burgos without knowing about this.

I am currently starting here at the beginning of Semana Santa. We are paying around 50 euros per night. There hotel fits are needs very well. I would stay here again although the lack of air conditioning might be a problem in the summer.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I've said it before... Santa Semana is the best. (although this year its early = weather stuff). A little pricey compared, BUT there is a parade everyday. (Procession).
