Plan to walk Camino Frances May (2020)
Hello, I am excited preparing for my first Camino in April (SJPDP 27th start) . I am trying to book albergue Suseia in zubiri and am unable to book online. I emailed them and the email address did not go through. Does anyone know if it is still open? It looks lovely but I will try elsewhere if it’s closed. Thanks in advance for any info. Also - thanks for all the wonderful information on this site- it is invaluable for a first timer ( 2nd attempt) and I love the wide variety of topics- practical and philosophical- what a great bunch of Camino people on this forum

I highly recommend Suseia so try for it if possible. Just this regular building on a side street, but then inside you find it’s friendly and inviting. Sign up for the evening meal if they offer it .... a bit expensive but fantastic food and a small group at table together.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
We just emailed Suseia for a stay on 04/14. They replied within an hour or so and they are full for that date. They recommended a nearby hostel, Albergue el Palo de Avellano. We booked a single night with them and it looks pretty nice!! 18 Euro per night single w/breakfast. We are beginning our Camino in Holy Week and have been advised to book through Pamplona. That we have done. Regards

I stayed at Palo de Avellano on my first Camino, and it was a good choice.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Zubiri has been a nightmare to find anywhere to stay for a long time now. Quite why the municipal has stayed closed for years I don’t understand

I heard rumors the municipal albergue might open this year. Just walked by some days ago and all the construction materials and scaffoldings were removed form outside.

I stayed at Suseia May 2015. I had a pleasant stay after the muddy walk from Roncesvalles. I had a chat with one of the persons working there named Alexiy (sp?) who is Ukrainian. With the war in the Ukraine, I am wondering how he and his family are doing. He mentioned that he usually visits his homeland when the albergue is closed for the season. Anyone stayed there recently who remembers him {or he is no longer there}?

Off topic, but thanks for the info. I was wondering about the municipal and whether it will ever open again. Hopefully this is a good sign, and it won't be permanently closed...

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi everyone -- After walking the Frances from SJpdP last October, I'm planning to revisit the bit between Logrono and Burgos this July, following different stages. It's the section where I had...
