A vote here for the train. From SdC is comfortable and fast. The bus station at Zamora is rather basic, though the man in the consigna (left luggage) was very helpful. It seemed that it is only served by Alsa buses.

I don't know which would cheaper for you. It is the same train line from either Madrid or Santiago. From the US it would be cheaper to fly to Madrid, but I am not certain from the UK. You should also check the train times as you will have to get...
