Lepuy on a low budget
Horses for courses! The demi pension is a good idea if on the Aubrac - there is often nowhere to buy food, so it will need to be carried and planned for. Favorite gites (private and municipal) Le Puy to SJPP???

Booking ahead?
The only places that I had problems with booking the day before was at St Jean and Hounto - I think the film "The Way" was probably responsible as St Jean was overflowing with americans - I did not see an American until I reached St Jean, and not many after Zubri! Le Romieu or Casteinau sur l' Auvignon , Condom , La mothe
I found that Le Romieu was a great place to stop - with the oversize church and all the stone cats. I stopped at a CH - L'Angeline (in the village square). Difficulty of Le puy route
I agree with you - the first week is hard. From Le Puy to Cahors is tough, especially when your bag weighs 15-17kg. Changing trains in Lyon
Yes - stamping my ticket in the billet machine is what I meant. I am hoping that I can print off my ticket in Paris, and then stamp it in Paris - I assume I can do this? My other tickets I can collect at Eurostar in London (Eurostar and TGV to Lyon).- Bungle
