Look for donativos - they typically are established to foster the traditional pilgrim welcome and experience, including communal meals (at most, but not all). Tosantos, Grañon, San Anton, etc.

A 'must' stay (imo) is in Grañon, albergue San Juan Bautista and also, although I have never stayed there, Manjarin, albergue Tomás :)

That's why I started this thread, as a counterbalance. There are lots of threads telling people what to worry about. I figured there was room for one with the opposite message: You don't need to worry so much!

I do expect to meet other people. When I do meet others on the way I usually greet them politely in passing and move on. When I stop for a drink or a meal or at night in the albergues I am usually happy to enter into conversation. But for me time...
