Wear what you are used to walking in. After some practice walks of more than 3 miles! I wore hiking sandals - little strappy toe things by Hi-Tec and my genuine trade marked Crocs because I've not worn any footwear with backs for more than 10 years. My diary On 15th Sept 2010 after two nights on 'Pride of Bilbao' I was among the last of the few who could start my pilgrim walk by stepping off the P&O ferry into the heat of the port of Santurtzi. bed bugs and sleping bags-again!
Aparently only 50% of people are sensetive to bed bug bites so many more are bitten than know about it and presumably the people who are not sensetive are as likely/ more likely? to carry them to new sites than the people who notice the bites. Bringing them home with me is about the only thing...- ecosse

Bilbao onwards
I'm getting the ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao on 13th September. I'd like to go through the St Anthony tunnel, but I also hope to walk by the sea during the couple of weeks I have available this time. So will probably only get to Santander!- ecosse
