    Rain Skirt (wrap, kilt ...)

Hey, me too! Love my Packa. And for heavier and/or cold rain, I add my ULA rain kilt. (I hike in a knee-length Macabi skirt.) The kilt is easy to deploy & undeploy, and the perfect mix of ventilation and wind protection. My Packa is bright green like yours, and my rain kilt is bright...

Anyone walking from Porto to Santiago in May

I'll be walking Porto > Santiago in May. Intending to do the full coastal, plus the spiritual variant. We'll be starting Monday, May 14th, a week ahead of you, but we're taking a full 3 weeks to walk a slow, beach-bumming, wine-soaked camino, so who knows? We may cross paths with you!

Has anyone bought a silk liner from TrekSilk?

I bought from the eBay page spirits_of_vietnam, rather than the website. The eBay page has more complete information, and seemingly cheaper shipping.

Has anyone bought a silk liner from TrekSilk?

I have an extra large single art silk, ordered from their eBay store, and I love it. I put a zipper in the side, since top entry bags drive me crazy and make me feel "trapped". It's only 6 ounces, and I like the easy to care for art silk just fine.

    App for android

Thank you - I know it sounded like a stupid question! But wait, there's more! :D I wasn't sure if "offline" just meant you didn't need wifi. I thought perhaps utilizing a phone's gps required data. So to be clear..... One can use the phone's gps - therefore not only using offline maps, but...

    App for android

I know this is a really basic question, but there is a basic thing about the mapping apps I'm not sure I understand. When using offline maps, are you still using up your phone's "data"?

Guides/Accomodation on the Mozarabe from Almeria

First, please let me apologize for starting a thread and disappearing! Work has been a beast, and other life matters have consumed me lately. I'm in omg 16 days pre-camino what-was-I-thinking panic now, so...... yay. Thank you! That is very helpful for the Granada-Cordoba stretch. It is...

Guides/Accomodation on the Mozarabe from Almeria

I am starting my walk from Almeria on May 25th. I'm planning to walk from Almeria to Melide, and then continue on the VdlP/Sanabres to SdC, and then on to Muxia/Fistera. From reading this forum, the section from Almeria to Granada seems pretty well covered as far as guides/maps. I've found...

    First Blister

Why are you using pantyhose as liners? I would think pantyhose do not wick (poor, sweaty moisture management), are rather rough, and are so thin as to not be particularly protective against friction. That's the first thing I'd change. No liners or proper liners. Another really good one is...

    Gram Weenies

Wow, the true ultralight unicorn - anti-gravity gear. So do those 2 weightless pounds have an effect on the gear surrounding them in your pack? You know, like the way a Diet Coke cancels out a bacon cheeseburger?

    Backpack Etiquette

Did that once, but without the reasonable excuse that I was trying to pick something up. I just toppled forward, faceplant, splayed out on my belly, no reason. This was a wilderness excursion, not a camino. I'm lucky it happened in a wide flat valley, fairly smooth trail, not on an exposed...

    Backpack Etiquette

Why, why, why, do people think this is OK? (Or just not care that it isn't ok?) Does anyone else Fitbit? I'm using mine this camino. It has a very convenient vibrating alarm. Yeah, ditto on this too. I am never not astounded at the thoughtlessness of others. Albergue life is always a...

    Gram Weenies

That's a good idea - that gives you an instant washcloth too, already soapy. No waste! I want to keep my towel giant, as is, though. It's a good privacy screen too, hanging over the bunk to dry. But I have 7 more weeks before I finalize my pack and fly out. That is definitely an area that...

    Gram Weenies

I've never had a problem with them breaking, but definitely the sliding problem. I found I could push the pin through the clothesline itself to anchor, if it was a fiber type line. Here's something I'm not a gram weenie about. I carry a giant towel. It is a beach towel size. (PackTowl, 5...

    trekking sticks vs hiking staff

Oh yes, I do all that. At least, I know to do all that..... but then my mind wanders..... My (now ex-) hiking partner of 6 years was always berating me about that. I just made him walk first. He was not as head-in-the-clouds as me, and was not snake-blind. And we did have a number of...
