    Bilbao to SJPP

Hi, it's difficult to get from Bilbao to SJPP by train. It's easier to take the bus from Bilbao to Irun (check http://www.alsa.es, they got 4 departures every day). Take the euskotren from Irun to Hendaye. It's a short 5-10 min ride across the Spanish/French border. From Hendaye you can take...

Starting in Barcelona- have 2 weeks.

If you start from Irun you could walk to Santander in 12-13 days. The countryside is very nice. There's an airport in Santander with Ryanair flights to both the UK and Ireland. /Freddie

Porto - Santiago vv by Train: has anyone experience?

I walked the the Camino Portugues last Easter and I also flew to/from Porto. I took the ALSA bus back to Porto and it worked very well. It was a direct bus for the reasonable price of 26 euros. I remember that I checked the train connection as well but found the bus alternative both cheaper and...

Starting from Bilbao or Santander- which route is nicer?

Hello Elisabeth I walked the Camino del Norte in June and it was great. It's difficult to say which one is most beautiful route because they're both nice. But if I have to pick one route I would say from Bilbao. However, the walk in Bilbao city isn't that nice so I would suggest that you take...

    Albergue closures in Asturias

Hi Deirdre If they have closed any albergues in Asturia it must have happened during the last couple of weeks. I walked the Camino del Norte in June this year and I used the latest CSJ guide. As far as I remember, every albergue mentioned in the guide was still there this June -08. But if the...

    albergues from Unquera to Sebrayo

Hello I just finished the Camino del Norte so I'll try to answer. I couldn't find any albuerge in Unquera so I stayed at a hotel that night. I don't remember if there was an albuerge in San Roque but I don't think so. I stayed in Llanes that night which is just another 4 km away. There's a...

    CREDENTIALS IN PORTO?

I don't know the opening times at Porto cathedral. But I got my credential on a Saturday at 11 am with no problem. The Cathedral is also a tourist attraction so I guess the information desk is open all/every day more or less.

Leaving Porto on April 30, 2008

Hi Claudine I just finsihed my camino portuguese today and I've had a great time. The weathers' been great with only one day of rain. I only walked a short part of if (from Tui to Santiago) so I cannot speak of the Portuguese part of the way. The albergues have been great and they are more...
