Have you considered staying at https://albergueperegrinosporto.pt/
It’s wonderful place and pilgrims often cook and eat together. Maybe you tried and they were booked.
Totally agree Eva. And even more importantly, protect the wonderful Spanish folks who welcome all the pilgrims in all the services they offer (tiendas, bars, etc.) Some of those people that are left in the small villages are often older and staying healthy to remain open is their livelihood...
What about sleeping in albergues? Seems like that is the most difficult situation. Breathing same air for 7-8 hours? I can’t imagine people wear masks to sleep. How does that work ? Or do pilgrims only stay in private rooms?

Hi Laurie: thank you for the link to the guide. If not this year, hopefully next. I really appreciate your quick reply and insights on the VdlP. Will stick with it since it's rare I walk in April. Of course every camino is different and provides its own special feel and beauty but nice to...
friend and I are scheduled to walk on vdlP starting April 15. We have 3 weeks. I chose vdlP because I thought the weather might be better in south in April and was super excited to experience Seville for a day or two during Semana Santa. The more the time approaches and read, the more I feel I...
Albergue de Peregrinos de Porto- You will not find a more wonderful host than Oscar Miguel. Beautiful , clean, wonderful garden in backyard - 5 min walk to train and 10 min walk to core center. Oscar will also give you all the recommendations you need and want. I go back every chance I have...
Hi Kathleen:
I am also planning to walk the first half of VDLP stating in Seville in mid to late April. 61 and walking alone. Keep me posted on dates you are thinking about. I saw there were a few people starting April 10, although I think I would like to experience at least one day of semana...
I strongly recommend the Albergue de Peregrinos de Porto to
anyone starting their camino in or going trough Porto. This isn't just a place to stay and sleep. The owner and Hospitaleiro have been pilgrims and know, understand and care about your journey. They are helpful and get people to...
There is some truth to all the above comments. Traveling and the Camino is so individual. Just returned from Portuguese and walked entire Frances route to Finistere/muxia last year.
Main difference while walking in Portugal. Lots of cobblestone paths and terrain mostly flat until you cross into...
I just arrived in Porto yesterday and was Little apprehensive because since it is a big city , it is more impersonal, unlike st jean pied de port. . Found the new 1 month old new albergue, called albergue de peregrino de Porto and the owners Oscar and Nano are the most caring and giving...
Are there a lot of pilgrims on Primitivo right now? Are they all rushing out as early as possible in the morning to be the first to get beds ? Generally has there been beds in albergue? I am arriving in Madrid this sunday june 19 - still unsure if I will head to Oviedo to walk Primitivo or...
