Cheers, Mike. I found an XML file that I can load into Google Maps, so that should keep us on the right track. The distances don't seem too daunting, averaging 25k per day, but there does seem to be a lot of up and down.
My girlfriend and I have a week free in mid-October, allowing for 5 or 6 days walking, and thought to do the first portion of the del Norte. We have booked flights in and out of Bilbao and had planned to spend a couple of nights in San Sebastian as it's such a pretty town and the food is great...
Hi Meg,
I don't know if this is helpful for you, but both guides you mention can be downloaded from here:

Taking the bus into, or out of Leon is madness, in my opinion. Do you go on the Camino to walk, or to sit on a bus? Walking is walking and you are you, whether you are in the suburbs or the countryside.
We'll arrive to Santiago on Sunday morning and, being from Cork, want to watch the game. Does anyone know of an Irish bar or elsewhere that might be screening the match live?
I remember an Irish pub in Santiago when I was there 10 years ago... but will they show the match?
In Pamplona, we stayed in Hotel Europa. It's a 3 star hotel, and not so expensive. But the best part is their Michelin starred restaurant. When we stayed, there was an offer where hotel guests could enjoy 3 courses and 2 glasses of wine for €32.

You may leave a couple of coins when...
My experience is the opposite of the scenarios proffered above.
I did it in 30 days and took two days off along the way. I never felt rushed or stressed. I really enjoyed it. But I didn't have a deadline... it just happened to take 30 days.
Some might like walking an average of 30k a day. For...
Wow! We passed through a few days before you. I know the place(s) you're talking about. I remember thinking how considerate it was of the local authorities to provide these little bridges across the streams, which were ankle deep. I would never have imagined them thigh high!
At least it's dry...
I stayed with my friend Brian in Roland's albergue in Azofra in June 2003.
We entered the door, and seeing no one in sight, hollered up the stairs "Ola! Buenos Dias!". A big bearded man came lolloping down the stairs to greet us. Upon discovering our nationality he exclaimed "Begorrah...
Re: IMPORTANT: Advice for pilgrims setting off in March 2013
Just finishing our mini Camino today. There is mud and ankle deep water to be dealt with as far as Logrono at the moment.
Re: IMPORTANT: Advice for pilgrims setting off in March 2013
Walked from SJPP to Roncesvalles today on the Valcarlos route. Having walked the Napoleon before, I can say this way is also beautiful. There is relatively little walking on busy roads, although today is Sunday so I imagine roads are...
