When I told my 2 sons I'll walk the Camino Frances in 2013 from SJPP by myself here's their response:
Oldest son: you won't make it, Mom-that's a lot of walking at your age (I was a young 69 yo).
Son #2: if you really want to do it Mom go for it -just be careful.

I used pacer poles on the Frances from SJPP to Santiago. I brought an extra pair of rubber tips but never had to use them-lost them in Pamplona. The original metal & rubber tips lasted all the way to Santiago and I usually put the rubber tips over the metal ones especially on slippery pavements...

As a mother who also lost a daughter, albeit to cancer, I can feel the heartache & pain Denise's mother feels right now. I pray that God give her and her family strength, comfort and peace.
When I got my pacer poles in the mail they already have rubber tips attached to the metal tips + a pair of extra rubber tips & a pair to use in the snow. I did not need the extra pair but I'm glad I brought them because I lost 2 rubber tips-must have fallen off my backpack waist pockets.
