How busy is the Francés now - April 25th?

Would be interesting to have a chip or tag on the credential or on a pilgrim's wrist, and insist that you pass it over a chip reader at say the main cathedral, or first albergue in each town, wherever, then it would be a more accurate count of how many are on (and have left) the Camino. Just my...

Is it worth booking train tickets in advance?

Do try and navigate through the RENFE site when the time comes. Trenhotel overnight SdC to Madrid was only €25 whereas the same trip on Raileurope site was nearly €75! Can only book 3 months ahead....

    Finally I saw The Way

I got my copy, a DVD region 2, from Amazon. Have watched at least 7 times, cried every time, loved it, then even met the Swedish chef who served his lamb to Jors in Pamplona. The restaurant behind the cathedral. And he was so proud of that fact and said Martin Sheen was such a genuine gentleman...

Camino Chaplaincy in Santiago - Services in English

The lovely English mass, hosted in May 2014 by dear Father Joe from Cork, was one of the most special and cathartic experiences I had on my Camino. Thank you for organising these masses.

Doing the Camino by bus and taxi

When I walked from Navarette to Ventosa, my tendonitis was so bad in my right calf I decided to take a bus to Najera. The locals shook their heads. I managed to get a bus but it went BACK to Logrono at I think, 12.30pm, it's true, the buses are very scarce in that section! I then took a bus from...

Santiago to Fatima by bus, then walking back from Padron

I arrived a little early in Santiago due to shin splints. At my albergue, the Portuguese hospitalieros suggested a trip to Fatima. Well, am at present on the way back and can report that this was one of the most moving and powerful religious pilgrimages I have ever seen. More than 5000 people...

LIVE from the Camino A fork in the road on my camino

The Camino is such a blessed path! I have had such amazing experiences, Leaningforward, on my humble journey so far. Firstly, how does it happen that a taxi arrives the instant I had to sit down below the Ornithilogical centre because of dizziness? How was it that a lovely fruit vendor saw me...

LIVE from the Camino Live from Canimo Frances.

The advice about bigger shoes on here - wish I had listened! Lost 3 toenails going down to Zubiri! Managed to get new shoes at the Camino shop in Pamplona, going fine now. Hard lesson

    Camino in April/May 2014

I am South African too. But have lived in Scotland for last 14 years. Starting from St Jean 16th April, will be slow, so look for the 65 yr old with a red Deuter backpack, then ons kan n bietjie die taal praat, then you can fly on. Veels geluk

    Walking camino Frances in April

I get the train from Stuttgart to Paris then on to Bayonne on 15th April. Heard there is now a bus in place of the train taking us from Bayonne to St Jean because of a landslide. Fun! Hope after all that excitement to start early 16th April with my walk. Will decide which route but at the...

Please read this about Bed Bugs

Um, er, Ivar, you receive parcels forwarded to you from all over the various Caminos. Have you ever had a problem with "passengers" arriving with these parcels, thus needing your office to be fumigated, or have you been lucky so far, with the brown paper and tape keeping them inside??

    Travel Vaccination

Thank God mine are all up to date! Even including a yellow fever injection which I apparently needed for Zambia last September. That one, and the 8 week course of Malarone for malaria prevention set me back £250! Not cheap! Luckily the others (tet, booster diphtheria, polio )were free on NHS...
