SJPDP annual pilgrim numbers since 1996

57,000 for 2023 seem very low considering all the publicity about return of big numbers. Is this really only those who identify as Pilgrims rather than walkers/travellers etc.

Santiago to Porto - by bus or train?

I have used the bus to Porto 3 times (2017, 2018, 2018). Fast efficient and numerous services. The alternative then was a train to Vigo and having to overnight there before daily train service to Porto. Another option might be train to Tui, walk across the Valenca and train to Porto. JD

Using a larger Backpack, just not filling it up. Thoughts?

Use a framed pack that fits well, rests on hips and not heavy o shoulders. I used an Osprey 50 litre AG pack on Norte in 2018. Beautiful pack. Unused space doesn't add to weight.

    Pilgrim Passport Capacity

Re two stamps for last 100 km. On my 2 Caminos starting in (Lisbon 2017 and Irun 2018) I didn't necessarily have 2 per day, and I don't recollect that the staff counted them anyway. Perhaps they look at the starting point and figure you've done enough????

Do ladies pee in the woods? I think we know the answer.

Probably stopped a little further on every third paper stop? Fair point elsewhere about drinking enough fluids while walking.

Do ladies pee in the woods? I think we know the answer.

I wish the women would take their tissues/paper with them after peeing. While walking the del Norte this year we would predict where the next ladies spot would be and inevitably we'd be right. Around the corner and marked by paper.

Oh dear... cell phone app Iphone — Vodaphone — question and warning

I had no issues in Portugal or Spain last year with Vodafone. I purchased new SIMs in each country and had the Vodafone staff install and use the card instore.
