I’m travelling to Pamplona by bus from Donastia San Sebastián in June but I want to start walking from zubiri. Is there a bus from Pamplona to zubiri? Thanks in advance

    Free hiking poles in Logrono

I will arrive in Porto without my sticks ☹️ and I believe there is nowhere to buy hiking poles in Porto (other than decathlon store). A suggestion is if unwanted sticks/poles could perhaps be left/donated to Porto cathedral by returning pilgrims & perhaps Porto cathedral could then ask for a...

    Never too old

Oh so many inspirational words, thank you all. I can’t wait and yes, we have pre booked beds, especially at casa fernanda. Although we’re quite fit (I’m 69 and hubby is 74) we couldn’t possibly match you WisTom. You really are an inspiration

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 9.0

I have the mountain scape from Santa Colombia de Somoza enlarged in glass on my kitchen wall as a splash back. I see it all the time and still love it.

    Never too old

Thank you. Yes, we will do. We’ll certainly have time to do updates cos we’re planning on taking it reeeeal easy, take time out to enjoy it and to wish “buen camino” to all those who will no doubt overtake us. 😂

    Portuguese steep descents?

Thank you. Love the pic 👍. Having walked regularly in the Lake District and completed the Camino Francis (albeit a few years ago) I’m sure I can handle that descent. We once drove through Portugal and the dreaded cobblestones literally shook our wing mirror loose. I’ll be wearing sturdy...

Thank you all. Definitely some good advice there that I will be using.

    Portuguese steep descents?

Thank you. Phew that’s put my mind at ease as we’ve decided to go central route rather than coastal and I was starting to doubt our choice. Thanks again

    Portuguese steep descents?

Looking at brierleys guide it states the descent to Saxamonde on the Portuguese central route is VERY steep. This now has me quite worried! Is it tarmac, loose rubble or stones? Should I try to avoid it?

    New to Camino

Hello. At last, after many years envying you Camino walkers we feel the time is right for us to join you. We fly to Bilbao on 2 July and begin from Logroño on the 3rd. We know it’s going to be hot, and at 66 and 71 we feel old enough to kinda know what we’re getting into but also old enough...
