There was a long thread on this topic recently. Some who live in Spain said this may disrupt the work flow and at the least seem eccentric. Thinking about it, I don't usually return my glassware or plates in the US unless there is some kind of...

I do the same, it is certainly not expected but often welcomed. It is unlikely you will ever see locals doing it (not that is a negative per se) as it is not expected by the bar owners. Well done to you though as it's a very thoughtful gesture...

I always do it. Seems like just a nice thing to do. Most of the bars that I went into didn't have a lot of help and I don't mind doing a little bit to help keep them in business. You certainly don't get rich running a bar in the small towns that...

Distilling all this down to a "rule of thumb," I opine: IF IN DOUBT - PACK IT IN CHECKED BAGGAGE - OR DO NOT BRING IT - PERIOD. Hope this helps. Tom

Michael @wisepilgrim had mentioned a new feature that he was developing for Wise Pilgrim, and it looks like it is now in operation. You can check the app and see in real time how many beds are left in an albergue. I imagine that there are a...

I'm looking at the app now, and it's easy to see which albergues are participating. There is a green band (many beds available) a yellow band (a few beds available) or a red band (FULL). It also shows what the situation was the previous day.

Hola Mendo Girl. My wife, my niece and her husband and my neighbor and I will be walking there at the same time. One of us is old and slow (me) so say Buen Camino as you zoom past us. We will each carry a silk liner treated with permethrin...

I have just popped my Targeta Dorada (Golden Ticket) in my packing box. They cost €12 and cannot be bought online, but can be renewed online. If journeying too or from the Camino on Spanish trains it could be worth buying, I think mine paid for...
