Fixing EuroSCHIRM Light Trek umbrella to backpack
Perhaps it’s worth a call to Euroshirm to see if you are able to purchase the clips. Having the hands free umbrella was wonderful for walking in both sunny, hot weather and rainy weather. I didn’t find the umbrella unwieldy or awkward. Best of luck to you!- LJLafferty

Fixing EuroSCHIRM Light Trek umbrella to backpack
I used the Euroshirm light trek umbrella on my Portuguese walk in 2017. It came with clips and small bungies to hold it in place on my Osprey pack. Perhaps you can contact customer service for Euroshirm and ask if the clips are included.- LJLafferty

Trekking poles as carry on?
I walked September/October 2015. I have the collapsible Z poles. I wrapped them in bubble wrap flying out of LAX and had no problem carrying them on in my pack. Hoka One One's on El Camino!
I loved the original Hoka Stinson. It sported a wide toe box and it cupped my heel, keeping my foot in place. With the design change in 2014, the shoe didn't work for me. Trail Running Shoes
You might check Hoka.com and REI. There is a new Hoka that is a hiking boot that has a waterproof liner and Vibram sole. The toes box is wide and feels like a Hoka, but with the durability of a hiking boot. I got the Hoka Tor Ultra Hi WP. All my training is in Hokas. Buen Camino.- LJLafferty
