Last year we stayed 2 days at the Port Wine Hostal in Porto after coming down from Santiago by bus. Not an albergue that was set up for Pilgrims, but was a nice place. Was 4 bunk beds in our room and a bath with shower.
Our first Camino we started end of April. Still had chilly weather. We packed some warm layers we wouldn't mind getting rid of after biggest threat of colder weather was gone. Left them in a donation box an albergue about 3 weeks in. Ultreia!
As far as on the Camino goes...We made color copy of our passport info/photo page and had it laminated. We used this exclusively when checking into albergues and our real/actual passport stayed safely tucked away in the backpack. Never once did they request the real passport.
We had no problems last year. We did notify our bank the time period we would be out of the country and in Spain. Wonder if that could be part of the problem with cards being rejected?
Thanks for your pic. I did do a screen shot after pmt that shows payment and on looking at that there is a number that starts with "AR" that's listed as an order reference number. No where does it state reservation or anything to that. No email was ever recieved. Guess we're going with this...
Thanks for your reply, that is were our reservation is for also. Did you receive an email with the reservation number? The money has already been taken out of our account.
We made a reservation for Roncesvalles through their site on May 7, 2022 (for 2 beds for August 6th). The money came out of our bank account, but we have not heard anything or received an email with any confirmation that our beds are reserved. I went back to their site and sent a message...
We walked in 2017 and would have been bythe wine fountain in May. BUT...somehow, I have no idea how....we missed it!? By the time we realized we should have been passed it we saw a pilgrim and inquired. Yep, somehow missed it. It was an unseasonably hot day and decided not to backtrack. But...
Thank you everyone, your replies gave me just enough info to find them! Seems like bocaditos was my missing Google clue. Now I know exactly what to look/ask for :-)
Package didn't look like that, but sure sounds like them!
This packaging looks close!
This packaging looks close! Now I'm getting even hungrier for lemon cookies!
I fondly remember a lemon (maybe lime) cookie from our Camino. Came in a tube package and was like 2 Ritz crackers with the lemon filling between. Currently on a trip to London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Munich and would love to find some, but can't remember the name when inquiring. Since this...
We sent my backpack ahead quite a few days when my back acted up. Always decided when we finished walking for the day where we would go the next day and as previous poster said, typically albergue host will call them...but we did on a couple of occasions. Used JacoTrans and was very satisfied...
I second the safety pins...we went a step further and used diaper pins though. Can hang laundry with them and won't blow away, can use when your pants get loose after the first few weeks (and the diaper pins won't accidentally pop open and poke you), pin your socks etc that didn't dry to your...
