All hotels in Pola de Siero seem closed

Yep, we were there last night. Siero Hostel has a “Away on Vacation” sign up and the other is being refitted - definitely shut. Couldn’t find anything else. Albergue was good though- clean and quiet.

Sleeping bag or liner on norte tomorrow

Hi, we’ve been on Norte for ten days, and yes it has got colder. But am finding albergues are providing blankets and heaters are on ... so liners have been fine for us. Weather forecast looking better too!

We have just arrived in Portugalete and the hostel owner was saying how he can’t believe the number of people coming here/Bilbao for the rugby next weekend. We are at Bide-Ona (usually has lots of pilgrims) and it’s booked up all next weekend. Just in case you weren’t aware, accomodation is...

Where to go in Irún to get started

It isn't on Mapsme labelled as 'the Camino', you need to just use Mapsme as a back up (it shows various trails and albergues etc but only in general, not specifically for the Camino). better to use other sources for specific Camino instructions.

Just to make everyone feel better- we are out of shape and didn't train... and the first day was long, yes, but its totally doable! Just take your time, stop lots and plod on. The first 1-2 hours were the hardest re uphill. It definitely was not as hard as we thought it would be from what we...

Where to go in Irún to get started

Hi, we started from Irun on Monday. You can get credentials and stamps at the main Albergue, they open at four pm every afternoon and were very helpful. If you have a Mapsme app (highly recommend as it is free, works offline and has all trails etc) the Albergue is noted on that. The Albergue...

Where can I find apps/maps/albergues etc

Hi, a really good site is http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es - you can translate it into English. There is also a related app (Spanish only I think).
