I walked the last 100 km of the Portuguese Central Camino last May. I don't know your financial constraints, but look into hotel accommodations as well as albergues. You won't have to worry about arriving late, and you won't have to leave by 8:30AM. But you will need reservations. Look into...
Camino Portuguese was beautiful for my husband and I last May. And you have a choice of 3 different Caminos in Portugal and they cross over each other periodically. If it is not long enough, continue to Muxia after Santiago. Remember if you do not indicate you are walking the Camino for...
I encourage you to contact Portuguese Green Walks. My husband and I used them May 2023 when we walked the Portuguese from Vigo to Santiago. They can do all the planning for you.
We are 72 year olds and limited our walking to maximum 10 miles a day.
My husband was raised Catholic, went to Catholic Grammar School, Catholic High School, attended Salesian Brothers Summer Camp and has attended Mass probably every Sunday in his 72 years. He had never heard of the Camino de Santiago until we saw "The Way" back in 2011.
If you are an American...
A question for forum members who have done multiple caminos in quick succession. Are you always in training? I finished my first camino last May 2023. I am 72 years old. My desire to walk another camino is constrained by my lack of desire to spend 6-8 weeks training (carrying rucksack while...
My husband and I did 100 km on the Portugues at the beginning of May. We turned our phones off, never used the internet for directions , used Brierley guidebooks and asked questions of the locals when we needed information. We loved our experience. The Frances is very busy in the summer. If...
I think that walk from Padron to Santiago is a "Bear". (May 2023 last 100 km on PC) It is uphill and thru an area of forest roots and rocks right before Teo. And then from Teo you hit a big hill as you start out and again as you first see Santiago in the distance. Catching a cab will be no...
Start in Vigo, Spain on the Portuguese way. You will qualify for the Compostela, it's not a lot of highway walking. I thought the walk was beautiful. Through woods and small towns, in fact, you will be walking on a historic path that the Romans used.
My husband and I completed the Vigo to Santiago route this past May. We stopped and stayed in Arcade rather than try to get to Pontevedra from Rendondela. We also stayed in Pontevedra two nights, having walked from there to a Cafe 10 miles out and then taking a cab back to Pontevedra to sleep...
My husband and I finished the last 100 km of the Portuguese Camino on May 10, 2023. It was not a long Camino (10 days) but we did get the Compostela. We both reflected that within a week of finishing we felt like it hadn't happened. I came home and tested positive for Covid. So I isolated...
Yes, bring poles. We hiked from Vigo to Santiago on the Portuguese Way and there are a lot of hills all the way up the central route. You will be glad you have those poles.
