No, I’m familiar with the distances that make me comfortable, so I can’t remember being frustrated with the notion, “Oh, I wish I walked further.” It’s all quite customizable, especially on the CF where you have more options, and those options are offered to you before you book.
I’ve always done the travel company route, just so I don’t have to worry every day about finding a bed. It’s also nice to hike with a daypack. A fellow traveler once referred it to me as the “Glamino.” And don’t let purists shame you. You’re walking as much as they are.
I wish I could do Camino walks all year, but even walks in the early spring have lots of rain. Does anyone have suggestions for long-distance walks anywhere in the world from November to March where one can expect temperate weather? I’ve done a lot in Nepal.
Everybody has a different draw to the Camino experience. For me, a long-distance walk over at least several weeks is a “journey,” a word that conjures an unfolding story, with a new chapter added every day; possibly even an adventure if you’re lucky.
Thanks, I did. Not much there. I found matter-of-fact route notes from an association and a blogger, but no real reviews or impressions. It's a relatively new route.
Hi. Has anyone done the 300-km, Via Algarviana, which runs across southern Portugal? I've found good resources, including at this site, but no reviews from people who have actually walked it. Thanks!
Michelle, take note of my e-mail address, above, and if you're going to be in Seville on March 30 or 31, let me know. I start walking April 1.
Cheers,
Richard
