Train/Bus stations on the first 6 days on Le Puy Route

A small detail: At Aumont Aubrac you will board a bus (operated by the train company) that will take you to a city where you will board your train.

    Hand Cart Lyon to Cahors

I would add that the path into and out of Conques is steep and tricky. But Conques is one of the highlights of the Le Puy route.

Guide books available in Le Puy Cathedral

Miam Miam Dodo is also available at the tourist office in Le Puy, same price. This May I hope to once again be walking Le Chemin, starting at Cahors, where I stopped several years ago.

Any Advice on How to "Cheat" to get from Le Puy to Conques 6

There is a train station (served by a bus) in Aumont Aubrac, perhaps this could be a good starting point.

Guide books available in Le Puy Cathedral

Just one more voice to recommend Miam Miam Dodo. We used it to plan each day's route and then check our progress as we walked. Sometimes we would arrive at a village in the afternoon, then consult Miam Miam Dodo to determine If the next village was possible.

    Getting bike to Le Puy

In 2007, the first time we did The Camino, we rode bikes from SJPP. At that time, KLM had an offer that one bike could go free in the place of one suitcase. Note that this was before airlines started adding on so many extra fees for luggage. For rain transportation in France, use the web...

    Camino Frances by Bicycle

I would add the following comments, based upon our experience of doing the Camino by bicycle in 2006: Always check the brakes. In Galicia, one fellow pilgrim on a bike flew past us on a 15 kilometer decline when he lost his back brake. When we met him at Molinaseca he was still shaking. We...

When we finished the Pilgrimage in May of 2006, we thought about selling the bikes and put a notice at the pilrim's office in Santiago. We had an offer, but decided to take the bikes back with us. Our flights were on KLM, which did not charge extra for the bicycle as long as we just had one...

    pilgrim meltdown

Buena, The weeks before the Camino aren´t easy. Just one year ago, we were finishing our months of training and arguing over what bare necessities would go into the packs. But it is worth all the effort. Believe, me, all the people we met along the Camino, the sights, and finally...
