I've had several "attacks" of this over the years. It's never pleasant and doesn't just disappear in a day or two. Lindsay53 gives excellent advice. Add one more: lose weight.
Thorlo LTH or LTHMX (low cuts for less weight). Never a blister and they wear like iron. I think socks are at least as important as the shoes. Wrightsocks are a good second choice.

I like Neosporin rather than Vaseline. Get the greasy type rather than creme type. Comes in a couple of tube sizes, a medium size being plenty for a Camino. Use on all the aforementioned applications, including foot lube. Seems to aid in healing up blisters, too.
This is an excellent post with very sage advice. The old saying don't sweat the small stuff because it's all small stuff really applies to Caminos. The "anxiety" curve disappears after the first Camino. After the first one you can pack up and be on a plane to Madrid in but a few hours, worry free.
I just returned from Santiago last week after walking the CP. A very convenient place to catch the airport bus is Plaza Galicia. A schedule is posted there and it is very easy to find. As I remember there are busses every half hour. The cost is 3 Euros, pay on the bus.
