Maximum size of luggage that can be sent through the mail, and how it should be prepared?

Hello Ivar! Hopefully a simple question here. I noticed that you have posted pick-up/retrieval of items only until the end of September. Do you have Luggage storage into the month of October and if so, are the retrieval times and conditions the same? Thank you kindly. Victoria

Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage - New York Times article

High Endeavours. Your blog is awesome and is far from putting me to sleep. Better and far more detailed than the NYT article. I am so into this Camino primarily due to your incredible pictures and narrative! Thank you so much! Time to start planning!

    Possibly cancelling my camino

Yes, we nurses are constantly putting ourselves in or being put in that “caregiver” role! 72 years old now and 7 years post retirement from trauma ICU and still I’m doing it. 2nd issue: an adult child is still and always will be “your child”. I have to agree with a number of other posts, I would...

    2023: hospitalero shortage

Perhaps two dumb questions but I feel I must ask. #1. I am not Catholic or religious for that matter, is this fact an immediate disqualification? #2. My hubby and I would love to do this however we are both 72 years young. Does age make a difference? We can mop floors, scrub toilets and I...

    Meltdown in San Sebastián!

I agree but but disagree. After living in Portugal for 8 years, many China shops are called just that! “Chinese Shop, Loja China, China Supermercado. These stores are all owned and proudly run and maintained by hard working Chinese families. They name their own stores, why would we deny them...

    Camino Irritants

Yeah nice idea until those angels start screaming! For me sometimes “Camino” noises can help distract me from the incesant ringing.

    Fly or train to Pamplona?

Addendum. In Irun you do need to walk one minute to the (also about one minute) shuttle into France. Then switch to the French train that goes to Bayonne then SJ

    Fly or train to Pamplona?

My vote: Take the metro at the airport in Madrid (the people there are really good at helping you maneuver the machines) to the Atocha train station. You can always pick up your train ticket to Pamploma while there before heading off for dinner and a good nights sleep. Last I was there they...

    Money and Bed Bugs Issues

Absolutely correct! I am one of the unfortunate people who will be found by bed bugs! I got bitten at 2 different albergues, one AirbnB in Paris and let’s not forget the Marriott Hotel. Do check out the : Bedbugregistry.com. I figure those little critters hitchhike on mochillas and just wait for me!

The Camino is calling me…early planning stage questions

You are not crazy!! Major life change for you, and congrats to your courage. The Camino provides, often without being asked. I for one am so very excited for you embarking on this journey. In three months, I start my 4th Camino (it gets in your blood and soul), and the excitement is still there...

Wishing everyone well. I am thoughtful, grateful and just a little nervous 😊

Congrats on embarking on your first Camino! I am so excited for you and your “bestie” of 40 years! Cannot think of a better way to mark the occasion! Yes I do believe this must be a thing, my bestie and I (both a young 72 years) will be embarking on our 4th Camino at the end of August and...

Is San Anton and/or San Nicolas open?

As of 5 days ago, San Anton was very much open! Enjoyed a lovely rest there with a number of other peregrinos.

    Camino Frances in Late August

Two more Americans here (technically....) we are actually residents of Portugal for 5 + years now. Regardless, we are beginning our 4th (Rick) and 5th (me) Caminos on August 18. So, so very excited! Once again, going up over the pyrenees, the difference this time, sending our mochilas ahead for...

    Refuge Orisson most unresponsive!

Just a quick note. My husband and I successfully made reservations for Orisson on the 24th of July, for the night of August 18th via their web site. Paid 1/2 now and 1/2 when we arrive, same as years prior. It did take them almost a week to respond. They ARE open. Who knows, luck of the draw...
