    Recovering, step by step

Unfortunately I can't read screens for more than an hour or two , it just doesn't work for me. Plus I love the actual feel of a book in my hands. Not quite as good as a cat though.... .

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

@sun is shining , here's the contact details for Casa Beningo, hopefully they're still current. Phone: +34 982 375 028. mobile: +34 666 274 344. Email: casabenignofriol@gmail.com. I didn't look to see if they are on WhatsApp, just used Google translate and sent an email (although the bloke...

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

@sun is shining, exactly as @Pafayac has posted, or take the Norte variant after Sobrado. As I posted above the only reasonably priced accommodation on the Variant Is at Twin Pines (booking.com). So for me it was Lugo, Friol, Sobrado, Twin Pines and Santiago, although I stopped at the dreaded...

    Recovering, step by step

There's always somebody posting about dropping out, or taking a break because they're injured, myself included. There seems to have been a few more than usual just lately, although perhaps that's just that I've got more time than usual to read them. But I've noticed that whilst many of us post...

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

Very true, as detailed in my thread I was actually attacked by a German shepherd on day two. It was a one-off incident however, and the Dutch pair that I mentioned above passed the same Farm less than an hour later and had no issue.

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

@sunflowers, I just had a thought. How are you going to complete the Hospitales if you can't carry your food and water requirements for one day? It's exactly the same situation.

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

Doesn't that then miss the section through the woods? That's the best part of the walk! Mind you, if all the OP wants to do is get to Sobrado it would work. Still a fair way without water....

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

It really depends on how much water you drink of course but it was July and I go through a moderate amount of water in a day. Had I thought about it I would have carried my water filter with me, that would have worked well on the first part of day one. It would easily have saved me carrying a...

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

Yes, both days I carried a full three litres of water and needed it, plus food for the day. Many have said it's 25 kilometers, myself and a Dutch mother and daughter both measured it at over 28 to Friol. Beautiful. I saw a total of four other pilgrims, not on the Camino itself but at dinner in...

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

@sunflowers, I walked the Verde on July last year, beautiful. I simply followed the excellent information provided by @Telelama , ( post 14) and the green arrows. Post in thread 'Camino Verde trail conditions?'...

    Snoring. AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

No, not unreasonable, I think you’ve covered both sides rather well. Tolerance and steps to mitigate the problem.

    Pork in Spain

Yes, I saw pheasant, hare and deer along the Primitivo too, no Partridge unfortunately. I only saw one hare but several deer on the Inglés in April last year. It's not surprising that deer are an issue here in Germany as well, I have seen deer from my balcony in the empty lot beside me in the...

    Pork in Spain

Yes, as I understand it it's rapidly becoming as big a problem for the UK as it has been for New Zealand for decades. Whilst both Roe and Red deer are native to the UK the others- Fallow, Chinese water deer, sika and muntjac are not. I recall reading recently that whilst there is a control...

    Pork in Spain

Funny, I would never have thought of the shot, I use a 22. I've only ever used a shotgun for ducks!

    Pork in Spain

Yes I have had a similar experience, personally I prefer to cook mine without the heads. My favourite recipe involves lots of butter, fatty bacon bits, onions, thyme, Bay leaves and a full bottle of red wine, which produces a very rich dark sauce much like you describe. Slow cooked over many...
