GPS meltdown
Somehow pilgrims got to their destination with no maps let alone gps. Still, it’s kinda nice having an idea where your next bunk bed is located. Maps. Me works fine and doesn’t require data. Triangulation to down loaded maps and waypoints is accurate within meters.- Gcmacrae

GPS on Camino Frances
Maps.me wirked well. Once you load the maps, you don’t need data and it doesn’t drain batteries. I way marked each daily destination and I could mark my progress very accurately- Gcmacrae

Wanting to avoid all albergues
For a while I treked with a woman and her father wh stayed exclusively in casa rural or pilgrim hotels. In July of this year on Camino Frances you could get a clean, small room with private shower for 28-40 Euro. A pension with a washroom down the hall 25 euro. Most provided breakfast.
