What time of year is best?

I absolutely loved walking mid April to mid May (this year). The spring flowers were amazing and the weather was mostly cool or cold, with only a couple of nasty hot days towards the end. Like you, I'm really not a hot weather person, and I found on those couple of days that the hot weather...

LIVE from the Camino Hola from Leon!

Hi everyone! I´m writing now from Leon, just over half-way through my Camino. In many ways, the Camino has been exactly what I expected... you know, a *lot* of walking... enjoying the company of other pilgrims (...most of the time)... some lovely albergues and other not-so-lovely ones.... plenty...

    Walking at night... ??

Wow, thank you all so much for your thoughts especially for the suggested legs and stories from those of you who have done this. Sagalout, I think I'm pretty sold based on your experience! I think I'll just see how I go and if I *do* happen to find myself with a good companion (this is probably...

    Walking at night... ??

So I'm an enormous night-owl and I was thinking it could be lovely to walk a little of the camino overnight - perhaps some of the meseta? Has anyone done this? Is it feasible? Is it safe? Can you see the stars beautifully or is Spain too built-up for that anyhow?

To camera or not to camera

Hmm. I'm pretty sure I saw you somewhere else around these parts talking about lugging all manner of photographic equipment around with you! I'm thinking you might be afflicted with the same photography obsession that has struck a few of my close friends and family... so I'm going to take your...

To camera or not to camera

I like this idea very much Abbeydore. If only I could draw above a second-grade level! ;)

To camera or not to camera

Wow, so many responses! Thank you all for your stories and suggestions. Falcon, I love your little piece of wisdom that it's how little not how much you need. I think perhaps I'll reconsider the camera question when I've gotten everything I *really truly* do need together and weighed it, then...

To camera or not to camera

Hola friends, I'm camino-ing in April/May next year - and have already started packing my bags, tee hee! One thing that's *not* going in my pack is a mobile phone, and I'm seriously considering skipping on the camera too. It's mainly for weight reasons (not that I won't be packing a little...

First time walker and on my own! (eek)

That's really not a bad idea Tyrrek! Provided I don't end up binning my blush/lip creme I would be most pleased to share with any other peregrina (or peregrino, for that matter ;)) who wants to pretty up for dinner. I can just see it now... I'll share my makeup, they'll open the bottle of wine...

First time walker and on my own! (eek)

Bromeliad, that sounds like quite an amusing sight! You'll be pleased to hear that I don't plan on bringing glitter nail polish (!!), soft toys (!!), or anything - single package of blusher aside - that isn't included on the most minimalistic of packing lists. At 4'11 and 53 kilos with a 30...

First time walker and on my own! (eek)

Hello little ant! I'm planning to do the camino frances for the first time and by myself too, in May 2012. And I have been thinking about this makeup question. While there are many other facets to my personality and life, aesthetics do matter to me, and in my ordinary life I get a lot of...
