    I completed the Camino del Norte last September...Irun to Bilboa is rough...it gets a little better from Bilboa to Santander...I am from Colorado and my opinion is that from Irun to Santander is some world class hiking trail.

    There is a traditional Camino route starting at the Bayonne Catherdral passing by the Biarritz Airport...or the alternate tourist coastal route which starts in Bidart which is West of Biarritz...both of which connect to the Camino del Norte (maps below).

    From the Biarritz Airport there is an official Camino route...but there is a better tourist path along the shore...I am enclosing the maps so you can decide but I will in Biarritz in late August biking the tourist shore path.
