Accommodation in Astorga and Santiago

Hi there. I am planning to do part of the Camino from Astorga to Santiago in May and need to stay one night in Santiago and one night in Astorga. Would anyone be able to recommend a fairly decent hotel for around €30 to €40 per night in both places? Also is it possible to stay in an auberge or other pilgrim accommodation in Astorga even though I won't have walked at that stage. I intend to get my pilgrim passport in Ireland before leaving. Thank you.

San Javier in Astorga will let you start there. Brierley's guide lists several hostales in your price range. You can search Google for internet information and to make a reservation.

Thank you for your reply. Have seen San Javier mentioned a few times and intend to buy the Brierly guide.

If you do not intend to book accommodation ahead, you will easily find a hostel in either place at the rate you mention. This gives you flexibility of investigating facilities on site.
Astorga is a starting point for many pilgrims to Santiago and with your pilgrims' passport you can stay in one of various albergues there.
