alberques, questions from a first timer

Hello Pilgrims,

I will be walking the camino frances starting around 20 th of july.
Im on a bit of a budget.
Are you guaranteed a spot when you reach an alberque?
If not what are the best options, fi bring a tent?

It is first come, first serve, so there is no guarantee. It will be hot when you are walking, so stop before about 2 p.m., and you are almost certain of finding a bed (and missing the hottest part of the day).

Do not take a tent.
Just start early and stop when you find lodging.
You should be fine.

If the albergue is full, there’s usually always a ‘pension’ nearby - ask at the local bar as they often also have rooms above.
