Best places to stay, esp in quieter/rural areas?

The Portuguese Way (Coastal route) - August 2016
Hey all, We start our trip next Monday, Aug 5th, and as I look at the suggested stops I was struck that many appear to be in surprisingly large towns (or perhaps towns are smaller than they appear?).

So a question for you: Are there places along the way you've stayed (or wished you did) along the Portuguese Coastal route that are in quieter or more rural areas? My cousin had highly recommended Casa da Fernanda, for example, but this is on the main Portuguese route.

We're pretty flexible as to where we stop and start. Many thanks!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
If you find yourself going inland at some point, I highly recommend Casa Mattos (Casa Rural) in Rates (Rua Direita 240) - found this one on the Wise Pilgrim app - beautiful garden and accommodations and only 20 euro per person which included a lovely breakfast. I also recommend CR da Meixida in A Escravitude (between Padron and Santaigo) - a beautiful farmhouse that we happened to have all to ourselves when we stayed there (20 euro per person). Enjoy - wish I was back there right now!

Just question your date...isn't the 5th Friday?
