Best way to get to Lisbon Airport from Coimbra

Currently walking the Camino Portuguese. I have a flight from Lisbon at 11:00 AM next Tyesday, and trying to determine the best way to get there from Coimbra.

The train from Coimbra will stop at the Calatrava-designed station Oriente, which is closer to the airport than the downtown Santa Apolonia. It is a short cab ride from there to the airport, or you can take the metro 3 stops.

One quick thing -- if you take a fast train from Coimbra to Lisbon, the train will leave from a station a little out of town, but there are connecting trains from downtown to that station, it just can be a little confusing if you're not prepared for it.

Thank you all. I had a wonderful walk today from Ansiao to Conimbriga. The last 2 days have been really beautiful.
From Tomar on, the path have been a little wet, but wonderful.
I have not seen any other peregrino on the trails. Only me and the birds!!!

Hi, what do you mean by "the beginning of Camino"? Lisbon cathedral? Porto Cathedral? Tomar? Fatima? Where is the "beginning" for you?
You can walk directly out of Lisbon airport, walk down the main street to Oriente, and pick up the camino there if you really want to. No need to get a train at all.

Hi, Marni,
I wouldn't advise starting at the airport, but you could conceivably do it. You would want to walk from the airport to the new Lisbon train station (Oriente) which is located right next to the Parque Nacoes. You would then carry on from there, because Parque Nacoes is on the caminho.

If you have time, I would recommend going into Central Lisbon, spending at least a day or two there (I know some people don't like to combine touring with camino-ing, so if that's you, ignore that advice). The first arrow is at the cathedral, where you can also get a stamp and get started. The albergue in Alpriate, about 20 km from the cathedral and right on the camino itself, is a good first night's stop. It's a great little place, run by volunteer hospitaleros from the Via Lusitana (Lisbon camino association), and will give you a chance to get to know others starting out at the same time.

CP train is probably best option. Trains leave from Oriente and Santa Apolonia.

Oriente is easiest to get to from Airport. Oriente is a major transportation hub. Buses connect to most places in Portugal if the train doesn't get you there. The other bus station is Sete Rios. Renex and Rede Expressos are major bus lines.
