Hey alli, my sister and I will be landing in biarritz airport on Wednesday 17th May at 10.50am and would love to share a taxi to Sjdpp. If you're interested plz let me know thank you

Same question for May 15! I'll be at BIQ at 10:40. Express Bourricot is still showing no passengers for this day...

You can also do this.

Biarritz airport is about 10 kms from Bayonne train station. There is a bus that takes 20 mins. Or take a taxi to Biarritz train station and 12 min train ride to Bayonne. See below.

On both 15th and the 17th May there is a 12.35 train from Bayonne to SJPP that costs about 10 euros. It will be full of pilgrims. You can book on SNCF website or Trainline. The train takes an hour to SJPP. I just looked on Trainline and it’s showing availability for both days.

It’s very easy and inexpensive

Thanks. When I check Rome2Rio it shows a bus leaving BIQ at 12:07 on May 15, and connecting to another bus in Bayonne, and then on to SJPDP. Hopefully that's accurate because that's what I'm hoping to do.

Oddly, Express Bourricot is still showing no passengers that day, so I don't think that will be an option.

I’ve done the Bayonne SJPP train trip many times, never a bus (other than when SNCF had a replacement bus due to work on the track). A bus is likely to take longer but each to their own.

It looks like a bus from BIQ to Bayonne is my only option. No idea where it drops me in Bayonne, and how far that is from the train station, and if the timing works, but if it's possible to get a train from Bayonne I would prefer that over the bus. I always prefer a train over a bus.

Update: I checked the rome2rio site, and it lists the buses from BIQ to Bayonne. For some reason all the departures from BIQ are for after 5pm?!? People frequently recommend rome2rio, but I struggle to figure it out (and I'm not technically challenged). So is the site correct? There are only buses from BIQ to Bayonne after 5pm?

I’ve answered this at post #3 above including the time of the train from Bayonne to SJPP and sites to buy tickets. I also provided a link to information on buses from Biarritz airport to Bayonne. That should be sufficient information. I don’t think you need to refer to Rome to Rio.

Given that it’s a busy time of year on the Frances, if you decide to take the train from Bayonne to SJPP as many pilgrims do, I’d suggest you buy a ticket asap.

Given that I haven't yet figured out how I'm getting to Bayonne I'm a bit hesitant to book the train from Bayonne to SJPDP. Do you think it's risky waiting to buy a ticket on the spot when I arrive in Bayonne?

As per my post #3 above, it’s 10 kms from Biarritz airport to Bayonne and there are buses and taxis. In the link I provided in that post there iis a diagram of the bus transport from the airport. If your plane arrives at 10.40 and the train leaves almost 2 hours later … you have plenty of time to get to Bayonne station. I dont think I can help further.

Thanks for your advice, that's good to know I wasnt sure if we would have enough time to catch the 12 35pm train if we had to get the bus to bayonne or with any delays. I appreciate you taking the time to respond

You’re welcome @molred And Buen camino.

In usual circumstances you will have plenty of time. If for some reason you find yourself short on time, you can take a taxi from the airport to Bayonne station. It’s not far. Extraordinary delays can happen ... part of travelling .. but assuming that won't be the case, you should be just fine.

Hi
I may be on the same flight as you, Dublin to Biarritz?? I have booked a transfer with Express Bourricot at 11.20 from Biarritz Airport to SJPdP on 17 May. I believe there are 3 people booked so far but then can take up to 8 passengers and the price decreases accordingly.
If you go to their website and request a shared transfer, they will link you in, as least that's what they did with me as I'm travelling solo.

Thanks, I've gone ahead and booked my train via Trainline. Great site for bookings.

Hi BeckieG,
Thanks for the information we have booked our train tickets and if needed we are going to take a taxi to train station. However, if Ryanair is dreadfully delayed it's good to know that Express Bourricot is there. After reading a lot of threads on this forum I realise the importance of flexibility, resourcefulness and resilience so it's always good to have a plan b and c
