Bilbao to Puente La Reina

Time of past OR future Camino
Started from St Jean in 2014, resuming at Puente La Reina May 2016
Hi there, am resuming the Camino next month for precious 10 days, arriving late to Bilbao... Any tips please? somewhere to stay in Bilbao
And... Best way to get from Bilbao to Puente La Reina... I know these are basic questions but I would love the benefit of another's experiences. Thanks,
Ali

Take airport bus from Airport to Bilbao Termibus.

Two options:

Take Autobuses La Union y Burundesa from Bilbao to Logroño; or,

Take Bilbao Metro or Cercanias train to Bilbao Indalecio Prieto Renfe Station,

Then take Renfe train from Bilbao to Logroño.

Walk 300 meters from Renfe Station to Logroño Estacion de Autobuses

Finally, take Estellesa bus from Logroño to Puente la Reina.

There is a nice hotel, Hesperia Zubialde, next to the San Mames footballstadium, a very short way from the busstation where you arrive with the airportbus. Easy if you take the bus to Pamplona in the morning. From there you can take the bus to P la Reina. Easiest way in my opinion.

Thanks for this. I will be going the other way having walked from Arles/Avignon to Puenta la Reina in late summer and then taking the bus to Bilbao. There are great restaurants at lunchtime outside of Mames off the other side of the road. Recommended! Remember if you are a pensioner over 69 'jubilado' then you get a sizeable discount on the buses.... But only if you ask!

Over 60 sorry....

I'm doing exactly this journey on 27th April.

I plan to take the airport bus (on the right as you leave the terminal) to Bilbao Bus Station. It's the last stop.

There are buses to Pamplona every 2 hours or so, autobuslaunion, costs around €15, and takes 2 hours.

Then there's a bus to Estella which stops in Puente la Reina. This part of the journey takes 30 minutes and costs €2-3 euros.

Whariwharangi has given you all the information you need - and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you Wharwharangi, your posts are invaluable.

On my return to Bilbao on 3rd May I will take the bus from Logrono to avoid backtracking (it's actually quicker than the train though costs about the same). I will just have to work out how to get to Logrono from wherever I am, but I've already made notes of what buses pass through which towns, times, etc. My only confusion is I believe the bus from Najera/Navarrete doesn't stop at the bus station in Logrono. I am hoping someone on the bus will tell me the best stop to get off.

Autobuses Jiminez provides bus service from Najera and Navarrete to Logroño bus station.
