Hello:

I am planning to start the Camino in Saint Jean Pied de Port on Sept 6th. I have limited time so am planning to walk to Burgos and then take a train/bus/car whatever to Sarria and then walk the balance to Santiago for a total of 400km. I have not identified how to get to Sarria from Burgos. Does anyone have any ideas on public transportation that would get me between these points?

Thank you,

Ciaran from Halifax Canada

Looks like the only direct way is by train - the RENFE website shows "TrenHotel" leaving daily from Burgos to Sarria, but too early for September timetables. Price seems to vary - anything from 40 odd euros to upwards of 66E.
If you can negotiate the RENFE website - not that difficult - you might get a better deal booking online, rather than on the day.

You can take a bus to LUGO and from there transfer to a local one. (35 minutes trip) to Sarria.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Hi!

Anyone catching the train from Burgos should bear in mind that the main railway station is miles from the city centre and not that easy to find. A bus/taxi from the centre is recommended.

The main bus station is just 5-10 mins walk from the cathedral.

Buen Camino!
