I was there in the Obradoiro. The fireworks themselves were pretty neat, but by far what was the most spectacular was the projections and the entire show. We did have to sit in the plaza for about four hours to save a decent spot and wait to see it. The Facebook pictures someone posted are a pretty accurate representation.
It sounds from the article like this may change once more once the construction is done. The last paragraph:
The rehabilitation work on the towers of the Cathedral meant that last Friday, for the first time in history, the basilica was not the main event in the Noche de los Fuegos (= Night of Fireworks). The challenge for Acciona Productions and Design, which was in charge of the show, was to realize an "enveloping spectacular" in which the people at the Obradoiro would have a much wider view, and that the other three historic buildings around the plaza would play a larger role.
