Changes in the saint's day celebration?

I have been hoping to see a video of the July 24 festivities in the Praca Obradoiro, but can't seem to find one yet. I did see this article, though, which suggests that there are fundamental changes going on.

Apparently, this year there were no fireworks, just digital stuff on the cathedral facade. This meant that the people hoping to see things from the great vantage point of the Alameda Park were disappointed. Does this mean that those of us who saw the glorious fireworks display last year saw the last one ever? I understand why fireworks might not be the best thing for the cathedral facade, but it sounds like there are a lot of unhappy people, at least if this is a balanced reporting of what is going on.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The paper says there were only four "bombas", which I'm assuming means the big fireworks shots. But the pictures seem to show a lot.

Annie, were you there? Was it not the huge fireworks extravaganza from previous years?

p.s. one of the comments to that facebook link said "I was not in Obradoiro, and the fireworks seemed weak to me," suggesting there has been some reduction.

My Spanish is zero - I wasn´t there - I only saw the photos.

I was there in the Obradoiro. The fireworks themselves were pretty neat, but by far what was the most spectacular was the projections and the entire show. We did have to sit in the plaza for about four hours to save a decent spot and wait to see it. The Facebook pictures someone posted are a pretty accurate representation.

It sounds from the article like this may change once more once the construction is done. The last paragraph:

The rehabilitation work on the towers of the Cathedral meant that last Friday, for the first time in history, the basilica was not the main event in the Noche de los Fuegos (= Night of Fireworks). The challenge for Acciona Productions and Design, which was in charge of the show, was to realize an "enveloping spectacular" in which the people at the Obradoiro would have a much wider view, and that the other three historic buildings around the plaza would play a larger role.

"Las obras de rehabilitación de las torres de la Catedral provocaron que el pasado viernes, y por primera vez en la historia, la basílica perdiese el protagonismo en la Noche de los Fuegos. El reto que se marcó Acciona-Producciones y Diseño, que se encargó del montaje, fue realizar un “espectáculo envolvente” en el que los asistentes al Obradoiro tuviesen un radio de visión mucho más amplio, y en el que ganasen peso los otros tres edificios históricos que contornean la explanada."
