When I walked on the Frances, I was always astonished that flies preferred sweaty pilgrims to all the s..t on the road! Then again, maybe they spent time walking on that brown stuff and then wanted to wipe their tiny little feeties....... Anyway, I was wondering if folks encountered flies and gnats in profusion along the Portuguese as I am tempted to bring a face net this time. There were many days on the Frances that I wondered why in the world I thought a bug net was extraneous.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi Portia,
I walked the portuguese last year in August and do not remember one fly/mosquito!

When I walked the Portuguese in 2006, the mosquitos didn't bother me a bit on the trail, but at night, they drove me absolutely NUTS whining around my head! Seems I was up half the night on mosquito duty!
