floccinaucinihilipilification

Al the optimist

This year there were two ladies from the USA asking us to say one word which summed up the camino for us which they compiled into a video. It was after dinner and a glass or so of the elixir so I offer no apologies for the word I used. However it does describe one aspect of my caminos. The word by the way was floccinaucinihilipilification. Based on Latin it means "Rendering meaningless that which is meaningless". Seems appropriate to me.

All, I saw the video of you, but didn't understand what you said. Good word!

I think that for me and maybe many others we reflect on what is important and not important (things that are meaningless?) in our lives and let go of some things (rendering them meaningless?)
Aah, yes of course; I missed that angle. It's the time to reflect that the Camino provides that helps us sort the chaff from the grain in our lives. A year and a half since my Camino and I am still going through that process. It's ingrained in me now and probably will never end. Thanks for that, Allan.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
How many Scrabble points do you get for that?!

Dare I admit I have known how to spell floccinaucinihilipilification (and say it!) since I was eleven? It was a favorite word from "The Abecedarian Book." In fact ... I have that book in my hand right now, half a century (approx.) later! Perhaps it is time to set some things down and not carry around so much in my life (why yes, since you ask, I AM still removing things from the pack I will start carrying on the Camino in ten days!), but I'm glad that book was still on my shelf. Thank you for the reminder of a lovely sesquipedalian word!
