Getting to Le Puy from Madrid or Pamplona. Any ideas?

Does anybody have any insight on how in the world to get to Le Puy from Spain. I'm flying into Madrid. It's an easy bus ride from there to Pamplona. If necessary, I can catch the bus the following day to St. Jean Pied de Port. Or is there some ground transportation route from Pamplona?

Nobody seems to know much here. Most people who start in Le Puy apparently begin in Paris. But I'm flying into Madrid for two reason: 1. It was a lot cheaper than Paris 2. It's a lot easier to get there from Santiago de Compostela.

But I've done the Camino twice. Now it's time to try this vaunted Le Puy to St. Jean route. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Bill,
You can fly directly from Madrid to Lyon (1h50m) with EasyJet or Iberia. I just checked a date in June, and it was only about €50 (EasyJet, Iberia is very expensive).
From Lyon catch the train to St.Etienne, and change for the train to Le Puy. It is about 2 hours trainride, price about €25 all together.
Buen Camino

To check out for trains, you can check tgv-europe.com. I saw it is indeed quit hard to get to le puy from madrid. You can also try to check via barcelona and perpignan

ALSA has a bus to Lyon three days a week.

I flew from Madrid to Lyon with Easyjet at Lunchtime and then got a direct train at 5 in the evening to Le Puy. There is a shuttle train service from Lyon airport to just outside the train station. I had just completed the Via de la Plata to Finisterre and did not want to go home. Enjoy an amazing journey.
