Hello, my wife and I are planning to walk part of the Primitivo next spring, starting in Lugo. We hope to visit Oviedo on Good Friday to view the Sudarium. Can anyone tell us if it is displayed all day long or only during a particular service that day? We are trying to plan our arrivals and departures to make sure we are able to see the Sudarium.

Thanks,
Bob

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi, Bob,
Putting two and two together, here is what I think the situation is.

The Sudarium is on display in the Cámara Santa during holy week. No visits on Sundays. http://catedraldeoviedo.com/santo-sudario/

The hours of the Cámara Santa and other parts of the Cathedral are the following:

March, April, May and October
Mornings 10-2 and afternoons 4-8

It may be that there are separate schedules for Holy Week, but I didn´t see any. This will give you a start at least.

I've been in Oviedo at least ten times and have never seen it! Lucky you. Buen camino, Laurie

Thank you very much for these links, Laurie. I searched that website but was unable to find the information. I have contacted the Cathedral and received this information from them about the exposition of the Sudarium during Holy Week next year:

"On Holy Friday, the 19th April, the Holy Shroud will be exposed during the Mass at 18.30, but, from the 15th till the 20th you will be able to see the Holy Shroud in the Holy Camber (much closer than on the 19th in the Holy Mass). For the opening hours, please, check our Calendar at the beginning of 2019."

I hope this helps fellow perigrinos.

Ultreya!
Bob
