Guide books in ST. Jean?

Hi Gang,

Just a quick post...

Sadly, my wife and I left our guidebook back in the States. Doh.

We were hoping to find out which guidebooks can be found in SJPP. We had the Brierley book and haven't had much luck finding it in Barcelona. We'd love to rebuy that one.

Thanks for the help and excited for our first Camino together.

Buen Camino,
Jonathan

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Never fear. There's a small shop very near the SJPP pilgrim association (same street, about 50 meters in the direction of the cathedral, opposite side of the street from the association, same side of street as the cathedral) that sells pilgrim supplies: guidebooks, Altus raincoats, walking sticks, and patches, among other things.

There is also a larger recreational-supply store, down the hill about 200 m in the newer part of town (past the roundabout and adjacent the supermarket) that has a large selection of all sorts of supplies as well as clothing.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

BUT!
Even if you can't find a guidebook, you will be fine!

I actually laughed when I read this because this is the way the Camino teaches you sometimes.

You are going to find humanity very beautiful and helpful on The Way.
The route is very well marked... and other pilgrims will be happy to share their books with you.
Just follow the arrows to Santiago and have a great time!
Buen Camino!

Much appreciated, Anniesantiago.

I walked in 2004, after forgetting my guidebook. I didn't miss it much.

This time, with my wife, I wanted to have a security blanket and some additional historical background that a book can provide. But yes, we will be open to whatever the Camino gives us.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
