Hello! I'm soon to start my Camino Portugues and booked a coach transfer from SdC to Valenca, Portugal with ALSA.

Can anyone tell me if you just get on the coach with ticket and passport, or if you need to "check in" or something? I've never crossed borders with a coach so no idea how it works!

Also is it fairly easy to find the coach station in SdC?

Thanks in advance!

Spain and Portugal are both part of the Schengen Zone, so crossing the border is basically unnoticeable and requires nothing special on your part. You simply need to just board the bus with your ticket.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Just get on the coach. The driver will check your ticket, that’s all.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Bit more for you.

When I bought my ticket from a machine in SdC in April 2019 to travel from there to Porto, the machine asked for an ID No. or similar. I recall it didn't ask for my passport No. I entered my Passport No. and the machine gave out a ticket.

Whilst we are now a Third World country now as far as the EU. are concerned, we weren't then and so I would imagine that it is still the status quo. ie. You will have to input either your National ID Card No. or your passport No.

You may also find that there will be more coaches to Tui from SdC than Valenca. That is because they are travelling in the same country.
Valenca is just across the river that divides the two countries.
