Last minute preparations underway: I leave for the CI in two weeks. Any last minute tips/advice from those of you that have done this route?

I´ve met a few pilgrims from the Camino Ingles in the last few days including one who produce the guidebook from his rucksack - it remains accurate apparently!

Although there seem to be more pilgrims on the route than previously numbers tramin modest. It is hot in Galicia at the moment plan to carry a little more water than usual.

It must be an exciting time for you. I too am intending to go later this month. I'm a first timer and have found the John Walker booklet very reassuring (I'm worried about getting lost). I just wondered how you intend to get to Ferrol or La Coruna.

I've done some research and it seems an airline operates a service from Heathrow to Coruna. However I can't get anything positive about buses from Coruna to Ferrol.

I am flying from Miami (USA) to Madrid and on to Santiago and then bus to Ferrol. From the information on this forum it seems that a bus from Santiago to Ferrol is a simple way to get there. I understand that buses to A Coruna are also readily available in Santiago.
 
When I walked the Camino Ingles, we arrived in Santiago and took a bus the first night from Santiago to Coruna. There are lots of them. We spent a day in Coruna, which is a pretty city IMO (I know others who don't like it and I'm not sure why). Anyway, I think the buses from Coruna to Ferrol are once an hour so you won't have any problem getting there.

Yes I can see the sensible way for me would be to fly into Santiago and get the bus to Ferrol and walk back to Santiago de Compostela. I'm indebted to you as I'm a first timer - and a bit dim. I suppose I was fixated upon the idea of walking into Santiago for the first time as a pilgrim. But if the information I have is correct I can fly into Santiago and get a bus direct to Ferrol.

And you're coming all the way from Miami - fantastic. I feel humbled because I'm nervy and travelling from the English Midlands. They say 5 days to walk from Ferrol to Santiago but I think it prudent in my case to add a few days.

Gerry, I won't say I'm not a bit nervous, but I consider this to be a journey of faith and personal exploration/discovery. I am confident it will be a great personal adventure.
 
Enjoy your camino. I would recommend a look around Ferrol, Pontedeume, and Betanzos and stop whenever you can, either nice view or an open bar in a small village. Also I attended mass whenever I could, a convent in Ferrol and I am not sure of the other church name but it is near the palm trees in Ferrol on the camino, Iglesia de Santiago in Pontedeume, Santa Domingo in betanzos and the church of Barciela in Sigueiro. Finally a nice cold beer on the beach at Cabanas.

Great little bar, but there was a wedding going on and couldn't get a seat at all.
