I just heard from other better half that she arrived in Santiago late Friday afternoon...
after a short stop for a beer outside the old city centre (whereby she sent me a photo of the beer but not herself).

After 6 weeks of walking, worried about the food that she may not be able to eat (she is dairy and gluten intolerant), it was the least of her concerns.

Instead she experienced two rounds of bed bug attacks, developed extremely sore feet after leaving Leon (reason I suspect it was she had a spa in the Hotel Paris - I warned everybody LOL)

She walked through types of weather from sunny hot days to pouring rain (especially the last week coming into Santiago itself).

And she even managed to sprain her ankle a few days ago.

At times she tackled crowded albergues so much so, she wisely decided to stay in the little off the beaten places.

Therefore in Sarria of all places she stayed in the monastery outside of the town

There were only 3 people staying there including herself.

By the last week, she was staying in small hostals just for a break.

And lost her towel just a few days ago.

And her pack was too still heavy! - this is a never ending issue for her, even after 6 caminos!

The upside was that the scenery was incredible, and the people she met were wonderful.

And the food she ate and dinners she had, were great - most days.

And she seemed to have developed a love for beer - 2-3 a day it seems - something she does not do at home!

She sent me photos of her eating pasta and bread and cheese, so I guess that wasn't an issue anymore

So I asked her if it was all worth it - given all the things she experienced and her answer was a simple...

YES

Thank you.

Congratulations to her. My friend from Quebec arrived just ahead of her, on Wednesday, and he has now just reached Muxia. He is very happy!

Wonderful! And happy she has arrived safely. Bread, cheese and a beer..lol..well the camino does provide! What can one do but go with it!

I´m happy she has enjoyed her Camino. I´m also happy as a miracle has taken place from being dairy and gluten intolerant to being able to eat bread, cheese and drinking beer!

When is she starting her next Camino? If it´s the Camino del Norte let me know, I´ll introduce her to some pintxos.

Buen Camino!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I am extremely proud and pleased that she finally got the opportunity to do "her camino" - "her way"

So very glad to read that she has made it safely to 'her goal'.....smiles.
