We did the Del Mar last Sept/Oct-Ribadeo to Santiago. Can share our stages or you can find them on Wikiloc. Generally, made reservations through Booking (and a few others when accommodations were sparse). Infrastructure is still weak but that is part of developing a functional Camino. June/July should present no accommodation problems: due to the number of gorgeous beaches and parks. The lack of certainty re route, accommodations, food etc is both challenging and exciting. More really good info is available on the FB group page, including from the administrator, Oliva. Bottom line: the route is inspirationally awesome!!!!Cicerone guidebooks for Ruta del Mar to Ferrol to Camino Ingles is from 2019. I think I'd like to try this shorter coastal route in June/July and looking for updated info on resources, accommodations, stages, etc. Thank you!

And if you need a little splurge/rest day...the Parador in Ferrol was fabulous! No, I dont book Paradors as a rule, but this place was inexpensive and really a great location to start from with a nice little place to eat, rest, sip wine , drink coffee without having to leave...restful.I plan to walk Ruta Do Mar around The first couple weeks in July 2023. I just checked it out on Google And saved it to my favorites. Looks like a great location and not that expensive. Thanks. I’ll keep it in mind. And if you need a little splurge/rest day...the Parador in Ferrol was fabulous! I got quite excited when I saw this -thank you, but I have been looking at magwood.me blog - and the Cicerone guide. Whilst Google offers a shorter route overall I wouldn’t want to miss those coastal paths. I guess very careful planning will be the trick.I plan to walk Ruta Do Mar around The first couple weeks in July 2023. I have mapped out shorter stages with Google maps all the way to Camino English.

Great point! Depending on how I feel, I can have those longer Coastal stages as an option. Also, if I do a shorter Google stage, and take a day off. I can venture toward the coast and explore. I will definitely check out Magwood, thanks for the tip.I got quite excited when I saw this -thank you, but I have been looking at magwood.me blog - and the Cicerone guide. Thanks Magwood, I have started working through both and with the Cicerone guide I hope to work out a short route. Will only have about a week left at the end of Salvador and a shortened (Lugo) Primitivo . Coming from Australia means I always want to squeeze too much in.When I walked this route in 2016 I hashed a route varying between the ‘formal’ Ruta do Mar, the coastal path Camino Natural de la Ruta del Cantábrico, and some tracks found on Wikiloc. My aim was to follow the coast more closely than the official route and I wanted to take in some points of interest, ie Estaca do Bares (the lighthouse at the most northerly point of Spain), el mejor Banco del Mundo, and the pilgrimage site at San Andrés de Teixido. It was a stunning, challenging and lonely route and I loved it.
There are lots of photos and useful info on my blog - days 24 - 31
I recorded my tracks on Wikiloc. If you are interested you can take a look by scanning the QR code or by searching reference number 14327215.

Hi David. So pleased to be of help. I’m sure you’ll love the Ruta do Mar.I plan to walk this in April/May, and I would like to follow Magwoods lead! I used her notes and tips extensively in 2018 walking the Camino del Norte trying to stay as close to the sea as possible as much of the time as possible, and it worked well.
I plan to use her advice again this year walking from Ribadeo on the Camino del Mar. I am looking forward to a lovely experience
Totally agree! Google maps may tend to stick to roads and miss the incredible beauty of the walk along the coast. It’s helpful to have the choice. Use the Cicerone guide but also Wikiloc (search for Cantabrico and Del Mar) and you’ll be able to track your way in live time. It helps when the Way is poorly marked!I got quite excited when I saw this -thank you, but I have been looking at magwood.me blog - and the Cicerone guide. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Depending on time I may now make a detour to visit it. Peace.Fr Scott
It looks as if in stage six, you’re bypassing the cathedral at Teixido. Is that correct?
It is well worth the detour but makes the walk to Cedeira a bit more complex. Several options from Teixido. When we walked last fall we went from Ortigueira to Carino and stayed there before the challenging walk the next day to Teixido.Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Depending on time I may now make a detour to visit it. Peace.
