Refugio De Montanha Da Serra d'Arga

Planning to hike the Portuguese Way from Porto to Santiago in May 2018
This Refugio is South of Rubiaes near the Serra de Arga mountain. Does anyone know anything about it?

Thank you for the help! I have an email into them now. It seems the Refugio is for climbers and hikers to reserve a a group. I'm hoping there might be a way to hold a bed for just myself. Otherwise, I'll have to try to walk an additional 6hrs to Rubiaes after the descent. Not something I'd look forward to.

Neither the Central or Coastal route are anywhere near that refúgio.

Its part of an old caminho. I'm considering taking a day from Ponte de Lima and summitting the Serra de Arga. The Refugio is the closest place to stay if it's open. If not, I may have to look for a cab to Rubiaes after coming down.
 
Yeah, I remember seeing some references to shared pilgrims having used some of the paths. Going through to the S. João d'Arga Monastery I believe.

Going from Ponte de Lima should be pretty scenic: path along the river, Bertiandos nature reserve and a though climb to the top after Estoraos.
It'll be a though day, but interesting.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Any idea if it's too risky without a guide? I'm a capable hiker but I don't want to get such up there at night.
 
Without a good map and/or gps chances of getting lost are high. The only likely risk is loosing to much time and aborting the plan. Although the route takes you through some more isolated spots, it's never truly far from a village (there is no true wilderness in Portugal). Usual moutain precautions should apply, naturally.

Out of Ponte de Lima and along the river it'd be straigthforward (there's an ecoroute) then on the nature reserve there are waymarked trails. Trick is knowing when to leave it. There are many small tracks which can make it confusing once there are no clear signposts.
