After five trips of various lengths, I am finally within striking distance of Santiago. In July I will set out again, this time from Sarria. I know, what was I thinking doing this section in July? Well, just as the Camino decides a lot of things for you, my vacation schedule, trips to see the inlaws in Spain, and when I can fly free with frequent flyer miles has decided the rest for me. So July it is.
I have already decided that I'm just getting started, not finishing anything. Hopefully at some point I will be able to walk for more than 8 days at a time which is the most I've been able to do so far. Each time by the 8th day I've really been in the groove only to have to go back to the real world. When I get enough miles for another free trip I will walk from A Coruna to Santiago to Muxa/Finisterre/Santiago loop. After that who knows?
Back to July in Sarria. I don't want to see Santiago until I arrive on foot. My flight will take me to Santiago and my current plan is to bus from the airport to Lugo, sightsee Lugo and either spend the night there and take a bus to Sarria the next morning or take the bus to Sarria that first night.
The reason for this post is for once I have too much time. I have 6 days to walk 115 km. I know I will be back to Santiago on other Caminos so I don't want to plan on too much time there on the back end. I don't have enough time to do Sarria to Finisterre the way I want to in only 6 days - I want it to be like a slow victory lap when I finally reach the Atlantic.
Any thoughts on the best use of 6 full days? What do you guys think of the plan of one day in Lugo, four days walking and one day in Santiago?
